Man flees after attacking 14-year-old girl on Elm St, Preston


A WOMAN who witnessed the assault of a 14-year-old girl in Preston on Monday is being urged to come forward.
The 14-year-old was walking along Elm St in Preston to some nearby shops about 5pm when she was approached by a man.
The two walked to the intersection of Elm St and Greenbelt Ave when the man grabbed her by the shoulder refusing to let go.
A struggle ensued and the witness, a young woman, screamed out to the man telling him to leave the teenager alone.
The man fled getting into a small, green car which was driven by another man.
He is described as being aged between 40 and 45 and is perceived to be of African appearance with a stocky build.
He was wearing a blue baseball cap, a blue-and-white striped top with short sleeves and black tracksuit pants.
He had a white and grey beard.
The witness is described as a short woman with long blonde hair and a skinny build.
She is asked to contact Darebin CIU.
Detectives are also asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
