Man faces court over McDonald's 'child kissing'

"Jorge Manuel Albert Lombarte"charged with a string of indecent assaults on young children at McDonald’s restaurants

A Spanish national charged with a string of indecent assaults on young children at McDonald’s restaurants remains behind bars following a brief appearance at a Sydney court.
Jorge Manuel Albert Lombarte, 48, is accused of inappropriately touching and kissing two boys and one girl at McDonald’s restaurants in Drummoyne and Sylvania in Sydney and Cowra in central NSW.
He appeared before Waverley Local Court today wearing a transparent hooded jump suit.
The clothes he was wearing when he was arrested had been confiscated, a police prosecutor told reporters.
Police have put in a forensic procedure application for DNA samples to be taken from Lombarte, which he has not refused.
Bail was not applied for, and closed-circuit TV footage of the alleged incidents will be reviewed by Lombarte’s lawyer in the next fortnight.
The matter has been listed for mention on January 7 at Central Local Court.
Lombarte’s lawyer Daniel Covington maintained his client denies being at one of the venues when the alleged incident took place, which is why he needs to review the CCTV footage.

Police Question Man Over Assaults on Boys at McDonald's Restaurants in Sydney

DETECTIVES investigating the bizarre assaults of two boys at suburban McDonald’s restaurants are interviewing a man after being tipped off by a Daily Telegraph photographer.
The man was spotted at a McDonald’s store on Parramatta Rd, Stanmore, at 3am by a Daily Telegraph photographer Bill Hearne and two TV cameramen.
The man, who bears a striking resemblance to CCTV images of the suspect released by police, was allegedly acting suspicious before fleeing in a red Nissan Pulsar with ACT number plates.
Police stopped the man, aged 50, in Bellevue Lane, Surry Hills a short time later. Officers searched his car before he was escorted to Surry Hills police station.
Inspector Andrew Koutsoufis said the man was at the station assisting police with their inquiries. He is not under arrest but "it is talking to us about the incidents over the weekend’’.
The development comes after a four-year-old was kissed on the lips by a stranger at the Drummoyne McDonald's restaurant in Sydney's Inner West while the preschooler's mother bought dessert on Saturday evening.
The pervert then drove 30km across Sydney where, two hours later, an 11-year-old was kissed and indecently assaulted in the toilet at a McDonald's in Sylvania.
Chief Inspector Glenn Fitzgerald said yesterday CCTV footage taken from the scene of both fast food outlets had shown it was the same man.
Insp Fitzgerald said: "It's certainly not regular to be so brazen in an open restaurant with people around. (In the first attack at Drummoyne) the mother was right there, just metres away."
In that attack the offender, who was described as being in his mid-40s to 50s, walked up to the toddler and his brother about 8.30pm.
"He held the boy by the face and gave him a prolonged kiss," Insp Fitzgerald said.
He added that the man gave the boy a lollipop before fleeing in a white hatchback, possibly a Hyundai Getz.
At the Sylvania McDonald's, where the wanted suspect was caught on CCTV at 10.20pm, the man approached his 11-year-old victim in the bathroom - where he touched him inappropriately and kissed him on the mouth - while the boy's mother and sister used the female toilets.
"There is no reason for people to panic (but) the issue is to be vigilant," Insp Fitzgerald said yesterday, just as school breaks up for the Christmas holidays. "If you have young children, keep them close and watch them at all times."

Boy, 4, Kissed on Lips by Stranger

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy was indecently assaulted in a Sydney fast food restaurant while his mother was ordering dessert, police said today.
The boy was having dinner with his mother and a sibling at the restaurant on Victoria Road, Drummoyne, about 8.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
When his mother left the table to order dessert, a man allegedly grabbed the boy's face and kissed him on the lips.
Police said he also handed the boy a lollipop from his pocket.
The man then fled the restaurant in a small white hatchback, believed to be a Hyundai Getz or similar, with yellow and black number plates.
He is described as being aged between 45-55, about 170cm tall and wearing square-rim glasses.
At the time of the alleged assault he was wearing a blue baseball hat, blue shirt and pants, and carrying a shoulder bag/satchel.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
