Mother allowed defacto husband to rape two teenage daughters as 'lessons in sex', it is alleged in Brisbane District Court

A MOTHER allowed her defacto husband to molest and rape her two teenage daughters under the guise of teaching them all about sex and protecting them from sexual predators, a jury has been told.
A Brisbane District Court jury on Monday was told the stepdad is also alleged to have taken apart in a three-way sex act with one of the girls and the mother during years of so-called sexual abuse.
The 51-year-old stepfather, who cannot be named under Queensland law, on Monday pleaded not guilty to 23 sex offences, including two counts of maintaining a sexual relationship with a child under 16 and 13 of rape, between March 20, 2005, and October 8, 2008.
One of the girls, the jury was told, claimed that during one occasion while she was being molested by her step-dad, her mother - who is not on trial - said to her: "It doesn't matter if you're not in the mood, you've got to at least learn this stuff."
Prosecutor Ken Spinnase, in his opening to the jury, said the Crown alleges the man, with the consent of his defacto wife, either raped of molested the sisters over a two-and-a-half-year period.
He said the man and the girl's mother told the eldest daughter they wanted to teach about sex in the hope of protecting her from sexual predators.
Mr Spinnase said the abuse - which one teenager claimed happened weekly over a number of years - escalated to rape by way of the step-dad forcing the girls to have sex with him.
Lawyers for the step-father said they will argue it would have been impossible for him to have had sex with the girls during a crucial time when they claimed they had been raped because he had just undergone painful major back surgery.
Barrister Kerri Mellifont, SC, for the man, said: "The allegations (made by the sisters) are awful. They are also false."
"These allegations are really quite bizarre ... (and) odd."
She said the defence case was that the girl's concocted the story in an attempt to "get rid" of their step-father.
The proposed two week trial before Judge Brad Farr, SC, continues.
