Paedophile Register


A NATIONAL child sex offender register was launched yesterday, with the federal government declaring it a major step forward in protecting children against pedophiles.
Justice Minister Chris Ellison said all states and territories would be able to place pedophile information on the register and that information would be available only to police.
"It is enormously important that we have a database to keep track of pedophiles and those people who commit serious offences against children," he said.
