Pedophile Jailed For 12 Years

A PAEDOPHILE who made sadistic videos of young neighbourhood children and traded them on the internet has been jailed for 12 years.
The 57-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty in Brisbane District Court to a number of charges including maintaining a relationship with children under 12 and making, possessing, and selling child pornography.
The court was told the man abused four young boys - a five-year-old, 11-year old twins and his 12-year-old nephew - over almost three years from 2002.
Queensland police investigating the case said it was the worst instance of child pornography they had ever come across.
Director of Public Prosecutions Leanne Clare earlier told the court police found 19 CDs and 150 videos at the man's home containing almost 4,000 images involving extreme levels of child sexual abuse.
Some of the videos involved the torture of young children.
She said the man, who was arrested late last year, also engaged the boys in sex acts and then published the images on the internet.
Ms Clare said the five-year-old boy had been completely "corrupted" by the incident and was displaying sexually aggressive behaviour towards other children.
The man had previously spent nine months in jail in 1997 for 20 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12 years.
Judge Brian Hoath sentenced the man to 12 years' jail and noted: "You will be a very old man by the time you are released."
He also said it was to the "everlasting shame" of the victims' families that the abhorrent images of their children were still circulating on the internet.
Outside court, one of the police officers from the investigating team, John Rouse, said he felt relieved knowing the man was off the streets.
"This was probably one of the worst cases of child pornography that Queensland police had come across," he said.
"And we expect there to be more prosecutions like this in the future.
"While I'm relieved he's no longer in the community, I certainly don't have a happy feeling about it because he has still ruined these boys' lives.
"I mean, they will go their death beds knowing that there is abusive material involving them as children still circulating on the net."
