Police hunt for sex assault suspect
POLICE have appealed for witnesses to a sexual assault at Royal Park in Parkville earlier this month.
A 28-year-old woman has told police that on Tuesday, 5 April at about 6pm, she was sitting in a concealed
area of the park about 250m south of Elliot Avenue, when she was approached by a man.
It is alleged that he then produced a weapon and demanded that the woman hand over any money she was carrying, before he sexually assaulted her.
The man is described as being aged in his mid to late 20s, Caucasian with short blonde hair and a thin build.
At the time of the offence he was wearing grey track pants, a grey or blue hooded top, and brown gloves.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, and have released an image of a man that they believe may be able to assist in their investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
