TOUGH FEDERAL-STATE LAWS ARE NEEDED For CONVICTED SEX OFFENDERS.. SEVERE PENALTIES/DETERRENTS ARE
WARRANTED.
THERE IS NO BETTER CURE THAN "PREVENTION"

NEW PLAN FOR CHILD SEX OFFENDERS
Intervention camps for children convicted of sex crimes will be set up in NSW under
a plan by the state's opposition.
Under the plan, reported by News Ltd, young people under the age of 16 who have
committed a sex crime or are identified as being at risk of offending could be referred
to the camps for treatment.
NSW opposition juvenile justice spokeswoman Catherine Cusack told News Ltd it was
important to understand the special nature of these paedophiles.
"They are not mentally ill; it is a behavioural issue," Ms Cusack said.
"There are virtually no programs available for young people either in custody or in the
community in terms of therapy for young people displaying those behaviours which are
clearly going to lead to an offending future."
NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics figures show 111 adolescents aged 10 to 17 in 2000 were
charged with sexual assault, News Ltd says. Other studies have found the average age
of juvenile sex offenders in NSW is 15.6.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH-ITS TIME FOR CHANGE..The current system is
protecting the offender....POLICE NEED GREATER POWERS/ more funding TO ARREST/ Charge
PAEDOPHILES AND get them before the courts. ..!!
THE VICTIM IS A WITNESS..
Child sexual abusers "usually" leave no witnesses..other than the victim..more
needs to be done for victims of child sexual abuse..the system is letting victims
down..
Take historical offences for example..We have a case we are currently dealing
with, where a victim was sexually abused for YEARS from the age of at least
8 years old, at the hands of an older relative. The victim bravely reported the
case to Police in March 2004..as of November 2005 the offender has still not
been charged and the victim is told nothing much at all ..???.The investigation has so far not even made it to the DPP in NSW,whom are one of the many departments we shall be contacting with our concerns regarding this situation..??
We find it a disgrace that a child can be sexually abused, let alone for MANY
YEARS and the offender escapes justice because there are no so called
witnesses-the victim is a witness..???? - the paedophile(and we know he is a paedophile)
in this case was fostering children when the victim reported the abuse to Police in 2004..
the offender should be charged and at the very least, allow a court/jury to decide..victims
of sex crime need to be heard/believed and helped/protected by the system, not alienated by
it ..laws need to be changed/introduced to better protect past/current and potential
sexual abuse victims..

PEADOPHILES IN OUR MIST
Congratulations to police in their successful prevention strategy concerning the known
child-sex offender lurking outside a Hunter School.
Now, can someone explain what's to be done to stem the floodtide of unsuccessful
investigations and prosecutions when children report sexual assaults?
Even when the damaged children are grown up by the time they have the capacity to report,
the impact of these disgusting crimes on them and the idiocy of the rules of evidence set them up to
fail - for example, one person may have assaulted ten children and ten children may report to police.
Unless each child witnessed and can give clear, consistent evidence of the other assaults, each case is
treated separately, separate trials etc. Society pays tenfold - for the police, the prosecutors, the trials
and pays again and again in broken homes, broken human beings, dysfunctional people, mental health, crime etc.
When the systems fail, damaged children can become damaging adults.
Why are we not collectively demanding a complete overhaul this senseless, cruel system?
There's nothing special about NSW's dismal record on child protection, it is a world wide
phenomenon as governments make token efforts to 'do something'. I look at the money and effort it takes
to make us leaders in the Olympics and I know Aussie kids could have a right to fair justice if we cared
enough to make it happen.
